New Life Resolutions

Dear Reader,

Today is December 9th, one third into the month, as we edge closer to the planning of our New Year’s resolutions.

Lofty goals and ambitions for next year…

I’m having early reflections on the year and my life so far.

In certain ways, I am successful, as I am about 15 years into my career.

Having worked both in the creative and corporate world, I have had my ups and downs like everyone else.

I am, however, in a period of transition, more than ready for the next chapter.

The universe has been relentless with its indications that it is time for a change.

My change.

The time is now to transition to my next phase in life.

I have come to the conclusion that I could do much more with my time.

Being brutally honest with myself: I have wasted weeks, if not months, of precious time being distracted.

And probably years if I go back further.

Social media, educational content, cheap distractions which become expensive lessons.

Because the most valuable thing we all have is time.

Doomscrolling has distracted me from working on the tasks at hand in achieving my goals.

I wouldn’t be able to tell you what content I consumed in my last zombie scrolling session two days ago.

Not

that

I

watched.

Ridiculous.

And this is not the first time that I have realised this; I am sure you can relate.

My mind is foggy, I feel tired for no reason, and I forget a lot of important things.

More specifically, I know that I have wasted hours of attention each day that, if they were put into constructive activities, I would have been light years ahead of where I am now.

We are where we are supposed to be right now.

This resonates more than ever with me.

We reap what we sow, so these are the seeds that I have planted — or failed to plant — in the past.

This ends here and now.

Right now.

Today this ends.

I have learned that change starts with awareness, then decision, followed by action.

So here it is.

Raw & unfiltered.

I have invested in this blog, bought a name true to my own challenges.

Holding myself accountable by sharing this change publicly, hoping that it may help others as well vs. pondering with myself in a dark corner for nothing to change.

I am not a professional writer by any means; however, I am a committed human who wants to achieve goals that now seem lofty.

I am documenting my journey, more importantly the solutions that help me.

I want to do the heavy lifting to relieve myself from this anchor that holds me back from reaching my full potential.

And create one place for those who face similar challenges to be able to help themselves as well.

Thank you for your valuable time.
